D/ + AGNVS DEI BVLLONE GRA EPVSCOPVS LEODIEN'' Dans un polylobe, l''agneau de Dieu devant une bannière. En dessous, IOh''-DVX. R/ + XP''C VINCIT XP''C REGNAT XP''C IMPERAT Dans un quadrilobe anglé et cantonné de petits lis, croix ornée cantonnée de quatre lis, une rosette en coeur. Le grand mouton d'or fut la première monnaie d'or brabançonne qui ne fut pas imitée d'une monnaie étrangère. Sa création fut décidée en novembre 1366: il devait courir pour deux moutons brabançons, dont le titre avait été particulièrement altéré depuis le début de leur frappe. Cette nouvelle monnaie fut bien acceptée et elle fut rapidement imitée par le comte de Hollande, le duc de Gueldre, le prince-évêque de Liège, l'évêque puis le chapitre de Cambrai. Comme la plupart des monnaies d'or de cette époque, elle subit différentes altérations. Le grand mouton d'or de Jean d'Arckel est la première monnaie liégeoise au titre de duc de Bouillon.
