LIEGE, Principauté, Rodolphe de Zaeringen (1167-1191), AR denier, après 1174, Maastricht. D/ ROF- E-PC B. mitré de trois-quarts à d., bénissant et ten. une crosse. R/ C-LAVIS Grande clé au-dessus d''un coffre. A d., t. à g. (un gardien ?). Chestret 129; Frère, RBN (1961), 87; Dengis 377. 0,80g Rare Belle patine.

La clé représentée au revers est un attribut local de saint Servais. Elle figure dans les armes du chapitre de la collégiale, établie sur le tombeau du saint, auquel renvoie aussi le coffre à reliques représenté sous la clé. Le quartier de Saint-Servais relevait pourtant de la juridiction de l'empereur mais celui-ci l'engagea à l'évêque de Liège de 1174 à 1204.
